Shortly after the article on FoamAroma in the Feb. 9, 2013, edition of The Wall Street Journal was published, I was contacted by the Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program and asked to discuss the creation and design of FoamAroma with a class. After the Skype session I sent some FoamAroma lids to MIT for them to try it out. Here is an unsolicited video of a taste test performed by three people who work in the Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program.

Shortly after the article on FoamAroma in the Feb. 9 & 10th Weekend Edition of The Wall Street Journal was published (see previous post) I received a call from Blade Kottely. The phone call went something like this. ”Hello Craig, this is Blade Kotelly with MIT.” Then I replied, “Yah right, The MIT?” Mr. Kotelly is a lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program. His class is on Engineering, Innovation, and Design. Mr. Kotelly asked me to discuss FoamAroma with him and his class via a Skype session. I had a blast telling the story about the idea and design of FoamAroma to a lecture class full of enthusiastic and energetic engineers. Mr. Kotelly added his own bit of personality which made the experience memorable for me.

This journey with FoamAroma is constantly evolving and amazing. Laura and I just moved from Camas, WA, to Kalamazoo, MI. The very next week I hear from George (Owner of Geopak Imports, Inc. – FoamAroma West Coast master distributor out of Oakland, CA) that he has a new customer for his great double wall insulated cups and FoamAroma. This new customer is a Jaquar dealer (DeNooyer Jaguar) which is a couple miles from my new home in Kalamazoo. Crazy right?! BTW – The folks at DeNooyer Jaguar were very hospitable.

This is another major milestone in the development of the FoamAroma story. There are two new West Coast distributors of FoamAroma.
1) Geopak Importers, Inc. is an importer and distributor of paper hot drink cups. The owner, George Shlyapin, learned about FoamAroma through a mutual contact after the Portland SCAA show in April 2012. George and I decided that the marriage of his cups with FoamAroma was a natural fit. The cups are of high quality, unique with built in insulation that does not require a sleeve, and can be custom printed in small lots of 25,000 cups. Plus they offer an 8oz cup that takes the same lid as the 12oz cup. Geopak’s distribution point is Oakland, CA, which offers a great location to distribute FoamAroma after being shipped from the Florida manufacturing plant. www.geopakimports.com
2) Nortwest Coffee Roasters is a new venture with owners Jeff and Jessica Samuelson. They offer espresso machine servicing, barista training, wholesale locally roasted beans, FoamAroma lids, and Geopak cups. The warehouse is in Vancouver, WA, with current servicing to the I-5 corridor from Salem, OR, to Seattle, WA, and a few coastal and Columbia Gorge locations. www.northwestcoffeeroaters.com
